Our Grade 1 Ballet and Tap class introduces young dancers to more structured training while keeping learning engaging and enjoyable. Students build on the foundations developed in earlier levels, focusing on correct posture, alignment, coordination, and musicality.

In Ballet, dancers begin to refine their technique with barre and centre exercises, learning basic positions, port de bras (arm movements), and simple allegro (jumping) steps. Emphasis is placed on developing strength, balance, and graceful movement while nurturing artistry and self-expression.

In Tap, students explore rhythm, timing, and sound quality through fun, progressive exercises. They learn basic tap steps, combinations, and short routines that encourage precision, control, and confidence in performing.

This class helps students develop discipline, focus, and a deeper understanding of musical movement, preparing them for higher grades while celebrating the joy of dance.
